Why Dance in a Competitive Line?
While dancing in a competitive line, dancers have the opportunity to perform on stage multiple times throughout the dance season. Dancers spend their class time advancing their technical skills while promoting teamwork, goal reaching, and self esteem.
Competitive lines are a great choice for the dancers who love to dance and are ready for more.

- Hollywood Studio of Dance’s Competitive Dance Class Description
Hollywood Studio of Dance’s award winning competition team is a fun and challenging way for kids to take their dancing to the next level. While we remains a “recreational” dance studio (i.e. our students are not required to dance five days a week), our competition teams work hard and provides a way for students to excel individually through solos as well as on a dance team. Each year our competition teams compete routines in various disciplines including lyrical, musical theater, hip hop, tap, and more.
Meets once per week and performs at local events and may attend one local competition depending on how well they perform their dance routines. The pre-performing line is the next level after recreational classes, and the next step before dancing on the competition teams. While, still meeting once per week, dancers spend more time learning techniques and skills to advance their dance ability. Being a part of a pre-competition line gives dancers the opportunity to participate in, or audition for, additional competitive groups at Hollywood Studio of Dance.
Attends different competitions during the spring, competing against students their age, from other studios in categories such as; jazz, tap, lyrical, character, hip hop, and more. The Artistic Director decides which venues the dancers are to attend. Competitions are held March through May in the Minneapolis – St. Paul area.
Every other year, our competition lines have the opportunity to travel to a national competition. The Artistic Director decides which competitions would best benefit the dancers and the studio.
